Night diving: a unique experience for advanced divers

Two divers on rebreathers underwater

Night diving is one of those experiences that are hard to put into words. The underwater world changes beyond recognition after dark: different colours, different animal behaviour, a completely different atmosphere.

What is night diving like?

You dive with an underwater torch that lights the area directly in front of you. Beyond the torch’s range there is absolute darkness, which is eerie and a little unsettling at the same time.

Nocturnal wildlife

Other species are active at night: octopuses come out to hunt, shrimp glow in the torchlight, and some bioluminescent organisms light the water with a bluish glow.

How should I prepare?

The PADI Night Diver course lasts one day and includes theory and three night dives. We recommend it to all divers who want to broaden their experience.
